Did you know that beer is becoming one of the most appreciated holiday gifts? Beer is really an all-season beverage, but in my house it’s become one of my favourite Christmas traditions; this tradition is number 1 on our list of the 5 best beer presents you can give this year.
Beer Advent Calendar - My thoughtful wife individually wraps 25 beers for me every year. It’s the best. December 3rd’s was an Annex Brewing’s Force Majeure, which I am enjoying as I write this.
Beer Fundraiser - Our friends at Camp Hoo-ha, in partnership with Village Brewery, have created a branded bottle containing Village’s seasonal brown ale. It’s called the Village Camper and all proceeds from the beer sales will go to the Highbanks Society. Order one for that camper or beer drinker in your life here. Pick up dates are Saturday, December 8 and Saturday, December 15 at Village Brewery.
Brewery Tour: Who wouldn’t love seeing this in their stocking? Here’s Travel Mag’s list of the top 3 brewery and beer tours in Calgary.
Better Meetings: Scheduling a meeting with the team over a couple beers can be a nice change. Here are some of our favourite spots: Ol’ Beautiful (Inglewood), Inner City Brewing (Beltline), Klien/Harris (Downtown) and the Garrison (Marda Loop). (Added bonus: there’s nothing better than writing off beer.)
Buy local and support our breweries: However you give beer this year, choose the beer brewed closest to your house. Craft breweries are a small businesses too and they rely on your patronage. Check out our interview with Ol’Beautiful’s Chris Carroll about his journey getting his brewery off the ground.
Have a great Christmas - and Cheers!
